The three plans
| Plan | Month-to-month | Annual billing | What it covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Growth | $1,999/month | $1,499/month | The core marketing set for an established trades firm; referral work fits here for most owners |
| Elite | $3,999/month | $2,999/month | Marketing across more channels, and Trades.Agency website design packages at 50% off |
| Enterprise | $7,999/month | $5,999/month | A dedicated team and priority support for larger referral and marketing programs, plus a free website design and build in any package |
All plans are month-to-month with no long-term contract. You can cancel with 30 days' notice, and annual commitments are discounted. Before any of that, eligible trades businesses can have a 30-minute first consultation at no charge, which is not part of any plan.
How referral work fits inside a plan
Referral partnership work is not sold as a separate product. It is part of the monthly work your plan covers, alongside whatever other marketing you need.
A typical split on the Growth plan in the first six months might look like this:
- Months one and two: mostly partner mapping and written terms.
- Month three: tracking set-up and a partner page.
- Months four to six: a joint marketing piece, the first scorecard and ordinary marketing upkeep.
Owners who also want heavier search, ads or website work usually find Elite a better fit, because those channels take more hours each month.
What drives the cost for you
Three things decide which plan makes sense:
- How many partners you want to manage. Two or three relationships fit easily in Growth. A larger program with regular joint material needs more time.
- What else needs fixing. If your website, customer records or local search are weak, referred customers will leak away, and that work has to be done too.
- How fast you want to move. You can build partnerships slowly on a smaller plan, or in parallel with other marketing on a larger one.
A quick check on whether it pays
Take your average job value and gross margin. Suppose an average job of $2,600 at 40% margin, so about $1,040 in gross margin each. On the Growth plan at $1,999 a month plus GST, about $2,099, you need roughly two extra jobs a month from all sources to cover the fee.
If the plan also improves your other marketing, those jobs don't all have to come from partners. If referral work is the only thing changing, be realistic: new partnerships often take a quarter or two before they send work regularly. Our referral fee guide has a fuller version of this calculation.
What isn't included
Some costs sit outside any plan, and it is better to know them now:
- A lawyer's review of referral agreements that involve money, exclusivity or liability. We prepare the business terms; the lawyer checks them.
- Printing or event costs for joint marketing, usually split between the two partners.
- Referral fees or thank-yous you choose to pay partners. Those are between you and them.
- Software, if you decide to move from a spreadsheet to a paid customer record system.
Anything else specific to your business is set out in writing in your proposal before work starts.
How to choose
- Choose Growth if you are mainly building referral relationships and keeping other marketing ticking over.
- Choose Elite if referral work is one of several channels you want to develop together.
- Choose Enterprise if you want a dedicated team and a new website as part of the plan.
- Start with the free consultation if you're not sure referral work suits your business at all.
Questions about terms are answered on the FAQ page, and you can reach us any weekday through the contact page.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a contract?
Trades.Agency plans are month-to-month with no long-term contract, and you cancel with 30 days' notice. Annual billing is optional and lowers the monthly rate.
Is the first consultation really free?
Yes. If your trades business is eligible, the first 30-minute consultation costs nothing and sits outside any paid plan. It's a conversation about whether referral work fits your business, not a sales pitch.
What does the plan fee cover?
Our work under the plan you choose, as set out in the written proposal. Any fees or thank-yous you agree with partners are between you and your partners.
Are there other costs?
Anything outside the plan, such as printing joint material, event costs or a lawyer's review of an agreement, is paid directly by you. Exact terms are confirmed in writing in your proposal.
